Networking Follow Up Prototype

The GOAL:
Effectively grow your professional network by making it EASY and FAST to follow up without using canned templates.

  1. PROTOTYPE:  Input minimal details about new contact right after conversation (preferably) or when back at the office.
  2. PROTOTYPE:  A DRAFT email will automatically be created that you can review/edit/send to the contact (in this prototype the "DRAFT" will be emailed to you.  Normally it would sit in your DRAFTS folder).
  3. CONCEPT:  The networking contact now goes into a "pipeline" that automatically tracks time since the last proactive touch on your part.  Be notified if it's time to follow up.  Choose a pre-defined template using your inputs or make your own prompt.

Give it a try...

You just finished a conversation with a new contact.

You pull out your phone and take 1 minute to capture a summary.

For the summary, say something like:

"Met her for the first time at the NBG Huddle.  Her business helps children of aging parents manage decisions and care.  She told me the story of how she and her husband met networking..."

Or make up your own!

Tip...include the event name in your summary.

Easy as 1, 2, 3...
